Summary

CVE-2024-12155: The SV100 Companion plugin for WordPress contains a critical vulnerability. An attacker can exploit the missing capability check on the settings_import() function, affecting all versions up to 2.0.02. This issue allows unauthenticated users to modify arbitrary options, leading to privilege escalation. A successful attack can result in the default role for registration being updated to administrator, and unauthorized user registration for attackers, ultimately granting them administrative access to vulnerable WordPress sites.
