Summary
CVE-2024-12085 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the rsync daemon. The issue arises during file checksum comparisons, where an attacker can manipulate the checksum length (s2length). By doing so, they can cause rsync to compare a checksum with uninitialized memory, resulting in a stack leak. The vulnerability allows an attacker to extract one byte of uninitialized stack data at a time, posing a potential security risk.
