Summary

CVE-2024-11991 is a vulnerability affecting Motoko's incremental garbage collector. The issue arises due to improper usage of write barriers in certain areas, leading to an uninitialized memory access bug. This vulnerability may permit unauthorized reading or writing to a Canister's memory, but it can only be exploited if the Canister has enabled non-default features such as the incremental garbage collector or enhanced orthogonal persistence.
