Summary

CVE-2024-11878 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Category Post Slider plugin for WordPress. The issue exists in all versions up to and including 1.4 due to insufficient sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied attributes in the plugin's 'category-post-slider' shortcode. This vulnerability allows authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to unintended website behavior or data exfiltration.
