Summary

CVE-2024-11871 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Social Media Shortcodes plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 1.3.0, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes, specifically within the 'patreon' shortcode. Therefore, pages containing the injected shortcode will execute the inserted scripts whenever a user accesses the affected page.
