Summary

CVE-2024-11767 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the NewsmanApp plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions 2.7.6 and below, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the 'newsman_subscribe_widget' shortcode. Consequently, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts, which will be executed whenever a user accesses an injected page. This vulnerability poses a significant security risk, as it allows attackers to manipulate content and potentially steal sensitive information from unsuspecting users. WordPress users are strongly advised to upgrade to the latest version of the NewsmanApp plugin to mitigate this risk.
