Summary

CVE-2024-11528 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting IrfanView, a popular image viewing software. Malicious DXF files can cause memory corruption in the parsing process due to insufficient validation of user-supplied data. Consequently, an attacker can exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code on affected systems. To do so, users must be lured to visit a malicious webpage or open a maliciously crafted file. This issue, identified as ZDI-CAN-24602, underscores the importance of applying patches and practicing caution when handling untrusted files.
