CVE-2024-11517

Summary

CVE-2024-11517 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting IrfanView. This issue arises due to insufficient validation of user-supplied data during the parsing of JPM files. An attacker can exploit this out-of-bounds write vulnerability by crafting a malicious JPM file or convincing a user to visit a specially crafted webpage. Successful exploitation allows the attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process. This vulnerability, originally identified as ZDI-CAN-24118, poses a significant risk to users of IrfanView who handle JPM files.
