Summary
CVE-2024-11515 is a remote code execution vulnerability in IrfanView's JPM file parsing feature. The flaw arises due to insufficient validation of user-supplied data, leading to an out-of-bounds write condition. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability by crafting a malicious JPM file that, when opened, triggers the buffer overflow and executes arbitrary code in the context of the current process. User interaction, such as visiting a malicious webpage or opening a malicious file, is necessary for successful exploitation. This vulnerability was identified as ZDI-CAN-24010 in the Zero Day Initiative.
