Summary
CVE-2024-11514 is a newly disclosed vulnerability in IrfanView that enables remote code execution. This issue arises during the parsing of ECW files due to insufficient validation of user-supplied data, leading to a heap-based buffer overflow. Exploitation requires user interaction, such as visiting a malicious page or opening a malicious file. Successful exploitation grants an attacker the ability to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected IrfanView installation.
