Summary

CVE-2024-11458 is a Reflected Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the FAQ Builder AYS plugin for WordPress. Versions up to and including 1.7.1 are vulnerable due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of the 'ays_faq_tab' parameter. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by injecting arbitrary web scripts, which can be executed if a user is tricked into performing an action such as clicking on a malicious link. This poses a significant risk to websites using this plugin, as unauthenticated attackers can steal sensitive information, install malware, or perform other malicious actions. To mitigate this risk, it is recommended that users upgrade to the latest version of the plugin or disable the plugin entirely if it is no longer needed.
