Summary

CVE-2024-10895 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Counter Up plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions 2.4.0 and earlier, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious web scripts into the 'lgx-counter' shortcode. The insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes enable the attacker to execute the injected scripts whenever a user accesses an affected page. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to unintended website behavior or data leakage. Users are advised to update the plugin to the latest version as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
