Summary
CVE-2024-10621 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Simple Shortcode for Google Maps plugin for WordPress. This issue exists in versions up to and including 1.5.4 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's pw_map shortcode. Consequentially, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher can inject arbitrary web scripts that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it can lead to data theft, unauthorized account access, and further exploitation.
