Summary

CVE-2023-4597 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Slimstat Analytics plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to and including 5.0.9, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level permissions and above to inject arbitrary web scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's 'slimstat' shortcode. Successful exploitation results in malicious scripts being executed whenever an injected page is accessed.
