CVE-2023-41045
CVSS 3.1 Score 5.3 of 10 (medium)
Details
Summary
CVE-2023-41045 affects the Graylog log management platform, which uses a single source port for DNS queries despite recommendations against this practice since 2008. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by injecting forged DNS responses into Graylog's lookup table cache, potentially leading to cache poisoning. To mitigate this risk, it is advisable for users to distribute their DNS queries through a pool of distinct sockets, each with a random source port, and renew them periodically. Graylog has released versions 5.0.9 and 5.1.3 to address this issue, and users are strongly encouraged to upgrade as no workarounds are currently available.
