Summary
CVE-2023-40296 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting versions of the async-sockets-cpp library up to 0.3.1. Malformed UDP packets can cause an overflow in the ReceiveFrom and Receive functions of the udpsocket.hpp file, resulting in unintended code execution and potential security breaches. An attacker could exploit this flaw to gain control over the affected system or cause a denial-of-service condition. System administrators are urged to update to the latest library version to mitigate this risk.
