Summary

CVE-2023-40031 is a critical vulnerability affecting Notepad++, a popular free and open-source source code editor. Versions 8.5.6 and earlier are susceptible to a heap buffer write overflow in the `Utf8_16_Read::convert` function. This vulnerability could potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code.
