Summary

CVE-2023-34364 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Progress DataDirect Connect for ODBC before version 08.02.2770 for Oracle. If an attacker provides an overly large value for certain connection string options, they can cause the buffer allocated to process the string to overflow. This issue enables an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected host by carefully crafting data that will be executed as code. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to significant security risks and potential system compromise. It is recommended that users upgrade to a patched version of DataDirect Connect to mitigate this threat.
