Summary
CVE-2023-3006 is a newly identified cache speculation vulnerability, similar to Spectre v2, affecting the new hw AmpereOne. This issue, also known as Branch History Injection (BHI), allows malicious code to manipulate the shared branch history stored in the CPU Branch History Buffer (BHB). By exploiting this vulnerability, an attacker can cause mispredicted branches within the victim's hardware context, leading to unintended cache allocation and potential information disclosure. This vulnerability poses a significant risk as it can result in the obtaining of sensitive data that should not be accessible.
