CVSS 3.1 Score 7.8 of 10 (high)
Details
Summary
CVE-2022-49377 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel that has been addressed. The issue lies in the blk-mq subsystem where, under certain conditions, blk_mq_run_hw_queues() could be executed even when there are no queued requests. Once the queue is cleaned up, the associated tagset is freed. Previously, the current default hctx was determined by referencing the tagset in the request queue. However, this practice could result in use-after-free on the tagset. To mitigate this vulnerability, the Linux kernel developers advise against referencing tagsets for hctx determination and instead suggest a faster alternative.
