Summary
CVE-2022-40662 is a vulnerability affecting NIKON NIS-Elements Viewer version 1.2100.1483.0. This issue permits remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on susceptible installations through the manipulation of TIF images. The exploitation of this flaw necessitates user interaction, as the target must either visit a malicious webpage or open a maliciously crafted file. The underlying cause of this vulnerability is a buffer overflow during the parsing of TIF images, which an attacker can exploit to execute code in the context of the current process.
