Summary
CVE-2022-40659 is a vulnerability affecting NIKON NIS-Elements Viewer version 1.2100.1483.0. This issue permits remote code execution, requiring user interaction for exploitation. The flaw is situated in the parsing of TIF images and leads to a buffer overflow, allowing an attacker to write data beyond the allotted memory. Successful exploitation grants the attacker the ability to execute code in the context of the current process. This vulnerability was identified as ZDI-CAN-15214 prior to its public disclosure.
