Summary
CVE-2022-37979 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting Microsoft's Hyper-V hypervisor in Windows. This elevation of privilege issue grants attackers system-level access to a Hyper-V host, allowing them to install malware, modify system settings, or execute arbitrary code. Successfully exploiting this vulnerability requires an attacker to have valid login credentials and the ability to interact with a vulnerable Hyper-V virtual machine's console. It is recommended that affected systems be updated with the latest Microsoft patches as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
