Summary

CVE-2020-2021 is a critical vulnerability affecting PAN-OS versions 9.1 through 8.0. When 'Validate Identity Provider Certificate' in SAML authentication is disabled, unauthenticated attackers can gain access to protected resources, including GlobalProtect Gateways, Portals, VPNs, and administrative interfaces, if they have network access. This issue cannot be exploited if SAML authentication is not used or the 'Validate Identity Provider Certificate' option is enabled. The impact includes unauthorized access to protected resources, potentially leading to confidential and administrative data exposure with a CVSS Base Score of up to 10.0. Palo Alto Networks is not aware of any successful attacks exploiting this vulnerability.
