Summary

CVE-2018-9376 is a vulnerability affecting the Mediatek ECCCI (Error Correction Code and Command Injection) subsystem in certain drivers. The issue lies in the rpc_msg_handler and related handlers of drivers/misc/mediatek/eccci/port_rpc.c. Due to an incorrect bounds check, there is a risk of an out-of-bounds write occurring, which could result in local privilege escalation, granting System execution privileges to the attacker. Notably, user interaction is not required for an exploit to succeed.
