Summary
CVE-2012-0151 is a vulnerability affecting various Microsoft operating systems, including Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008, and 7, as well as Windows 8 Consumer Preview. This issue lies within the Authenticode Signature Verification function, which fails to adequately validate the digest of a signed portable executable file. Consequently, attackers can manipulate such files to include additional content, leading to user-assisted remote code execution. This vulnerability, also known as the WinVerifyTrust Signature Validation Vulnerability, poses a significant risk and requires immediate attention and patching.
