Summary
CVE-2000-0331 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Microsoft's command processor (CMD.EXE) in Windows NT and Windows 2000. A local user can exploit this issue by inputting a malformed environment variable of excessive length, resulting in the program crashing and causing a denial of service. The buffer overflow occurs due to the lack of proper input validation, enabling an attacker to manipulate the memory and disrupt the system's normal functioning.
