CVE-2000-0138 refers to a vulnerability where an attacker installs distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack software as a master, agent, or zombie on a system. Potential DDOS tools that could exploit this vulnerability include Trinoo, Tribe Flood Network (TFN), Tribe Flood Network 2000 (TFN2K), stacheldraht, mstream, and shaft. These tools are used to launch attacks that overwhelm targeted systems with traffic, causing them to become unresponsive or crash. Successful exploitation results in the targeted system being used as part of a botnet to launch attacks against other systems.
