Summary
CVE-2000-0076 is a vulnerability affecting the nviboot boot script in the Debian nvi package. Maliciously crafted entries in the vi.recover file can be used by local users to delete files, posing a security risk. The vulnerability allows unintended file deletion through the nviboot script, which could potentially lead to data loss or system instability. Local users with access to the vulnerable system can exploit this issue by manipulating the vi.recover file. The Debian nvi package's nviboot boot script is the root cause of this vulnerability.
