Summary

CVE-1999-1577 is a critical buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the HHOpen ActiveX control (hhopen.ocx) version 1.0.0.1 used by Internet Explorer 4.01 and 5. An attacker can exploit this issue by sending long arguments to the OpenHelp method, resulting in excess data being written beyond the buffer's bounds. This can allow the attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the victim's system, potentially leading to serious security implications.
