Summary
CVE-1999-1576 refers to a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Adobe Acrobat ActiveX control (pdf.ocx and PDF.PdfCtrl.1) version 1.3.188 used by Acrobat Reader 4.0. An attacker can exploit this issue by manipulating a PDF file with the 'pdf.setview' method, leading to the execution of arbitrary code remotely. This security flaw posed a significant risk for systems that had this outdated version of Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. Users were advised to update their software as soon as possible to mitigate the threat.
