CVE-1999-1548 denotes a vulnerability in Cabletron SmartSwitch Router (SSR) 8000 firmware version 2.x. The issue permits a denial-of-service (DoS) attack through excessive ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) requests. The router can only process 200 ARP requests per second, and an attacker can overwhelm the system with a flood of ARP packets beyond this capacity, leading to a service disruption.
