Summary
CVE-1999-1534 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting two components, nlservd and rnavc, in the Arkeia backup product by Knox Software. By setting an excessively long HOME environmental variable, local users are able to exploit this issue and gain root access. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, as it enables unauthorized escalation of privileges within the system.
