Summary

CVE-1999-1492 is a significant vulnerability affecting IRIX 6.4 operating system. Two components, diskperf and diskalign, contain flaws that enable local attackers to manipulate file creation processes. By leveraging these vulnerabilities, attackers can craft and write arbitrary files with root-level permissions, effectively gaining full control of the affected system.
