Summary

CVE-1999-1472 is a vulnerability affecting Internet Explorer 4.0. Attackers can exploit this issue by embedding a malicious IFRAME with Dynamic HTML (DHTML) capabilities on a specially crafted webpage. The IFRAME allows the attacker to read arbitrary text and HTML files on the user's machine by sending the data back to the attacker, a security flaw known as the Freiburg text-viewing issue. This vulnerability poses a significant risk as it enables unauthorized access to sensitive information stored on the user's computer. Users are advised to update their Internet Explorer version or use alternative browsers until a patch is available.
