Summary
CVE-1999-1397 refers to a vulnerability in Index Server 2.0 running on Internet Information Services (IIS) 4.0. The issue lies in the way Index Server stores physical path information, which is kept in the ContentIndex\\Catalogs subkey of the AllowedPaths registry key. Unfortunately, these permissions are overly permissive, allowing both local and remote users to access the physical paths of indexed directories, potentially leading to unauthorized access or information disclosure.
