Summary
CVE-1999-1323 is a vulnerability affecting early versions of Norton AntiVirus for Internet Email Gateways (NAVIEG) and Norton AntiVirus for MS Exchange (NAVMSE). The issue lies in the storage of cleartext administrator passwords in two different locations: the navieg.ini file for NAVIEG and the ModifyPassword registry key in NAVMSE. This means that an unauthorized user gaining access to these files or registry keys could easily obtain the administrator password and compromise the system.
