Summary
CVE-1999-1323 is a vulnerability affecting older versions of Norton AntiVirus for Internet Email Gateways (NAVIEG) and Norton AntiVirus for MS Exchange (NAVMSE). The issue lies in the storage of administrator passwords in cleartext format. Specifically, NAVIEG saves the password in the navieg.ini file, while NAVMSE utilizes the ModifyPassword registry key. This means that an unauthorized user gaining access to these files or keys could easily obtain the administrator credentials, posing a significant security risk.
