Summary

CVE-1999-1269 is a vulnerability affecting the KDE beta 3 screen saver feature. This issue allows local users to manipulate arbitrary file overwrites through a symlink attack on the .kss.pid file. By creating a symbolic link to a desired file and then triggering the screen saver, an attacker can replace the original file with malicious content, potentially leading to serious data loss or system compromise.
