Summary
CVE-1999-1230 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Quake 2 servers. An attacker can exploit this issue by sending a malicious UDP packet with a source address of 127.0.0.1, resulting in the server attempting to establish a connection with itself. This action consumes server resources, leading to a denial of service condition. Quake 2 servers are at risk of being overwhelmed and unavailable to legitimate users. It is recommended to apply the available patch to mitigate this vulnerability.
