Summary

CVE-1999-1228 is a vulnerability affecting various modems that fail to implement a adequate guard time or have a guard time set to zero. This issue enables remote attackers to execute arbitrary modem commands, such as ATH and ATH0, through ICMP packets, emails, or IRC commands, by injecting a "+++" sequence. The lack of a guard time allows the attacker to manipulate the modem's state, potentially leading to unauthorized access or denial of service conditions.
