Summary
CVE-1999-1216 is a vulnerability affecting Cisco routers running version 9.17 and earlier. Despite the implementation of the "no ip source-route" command, these routers fail to restrict IP source routed packets that should be denied. An attacker can exploit this issue by sending specific packets to bypass security restrictions remotely. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to network security and requires immediate attention from affected organizations. Upgrading to a more recent Cisco router firmware is recommended to mitigate this issue.
