Summary

CVE-1999-1201 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Windows 95 and Windows 98 systems. If multiple TCP/IP stacks are configured with the same MAC address, attackers can cause traffic amplification by sending a specific ICMP echo packet. This results in all stacks sending ping responses, leading to a denial-of-service condition. System performance can be significantly impacted due to the excessive network traffic generated by the amplified response. It is recommended that users ensure their systems have only one TCP/IP stack bound to each MAC address to mitigate this risk.
