Summary
CVE-1999-1187 is a vulnerability affecting Pine email client versions prior to 3.94. This issue grants local users the ability to elevate their privileges by exploiting a symlink attack on a lockfile. When a user receives new mail, a lockfile is created, and an attacker can manipulate this file through a symlink, leading to potential privilege escalation. This vulnerability poses a significant security risk and requires affected systems to be updated to a patched version of Pine.
