Summary

CVE-1999-1183 is a vulnerability affecting the System Manager sysmgr GUI in SGI IRIX 6.4 and 6.3. An attacker can exploit this issue by providing a malicious runtask or runexec descriptor file, which can execute arbitrary commands on the target system. This vulnerability is significant because it allows remote attackers to gain unauthorized access and potentially take control of the system. The Mailcap entry of the user is used to support the x-sgi-task or x-sgi-exec type, making it easier for an attacker to execute the malicious file. This vulnerability poses a serious risk to systems running IRIX 6.4 and 6.3 and should be addressed promptly.
