Summary

CVE-1999-1094 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Internet Explorer 4.01 and earlier versions. Malicious actors can exploit this issue by sending a specially crafted URL containing the "mk:" protocol, which is longer than the buffer can handle, leading to arbitrary code execution. The resulting attack allows attackers to execute unauthorized commands remotely. This vulnerability, also known as the "MK Overrun security issue," posed a significant risk to Internet Explorer users during the late 1990s.
