Summary

CVE-1999-1113 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Eudora Internet Mail Server (EIMS) versions 2.01 and earlier on MacOS systems. A maliciously crafted USER command sent to port 106 can cause the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service. Attackers can exploit this vulnerability remotely, potentially disrupting email services for affected organizations or individuals. This issue was discovered and documented over two decades ago, but remains relevant as many older systems may still be in use. It is strongly recommended that users upgrade to a patched version of EIMS or consider alternative email solutions to mitigate this risk.
