Summary

CVE-1999-1086 is a vulnerability affecting Novell NetWare 5 and earlier versions when using the IPX protocol with a packet signature level below 3. An attacker can exploit this weakness by spoofing MAC addresses in IPC fragmented packets that contain NetWare Core Protocol (NCP) calls. Successful exploitation grants the attacker administrator privileges. This vulnerability can lead to significant security risks if not addressed promptly. Upgrading to a newer version or applying the appropriate patch is recommended to mitigate this issue.
