Summary
CVE-1999-1041 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting the mscreen component in SCO OpenServer 5.0 and SCO UNIX 3.2v4. A local user can exploit this issue by providing excessively long values for the TERM environmental variable or the .mscreenrc file entry. By doing so, they can cause the mscreen buffer to overflow, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution and ultimately, root access to the system.
