Summary
CVE-1999-1015 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Apple's AppleShare Mail Server 5.0.3 on MacOS 8.1 and earlier versions. A remote attacker can exploit this issue by sending a excessively long HELO command during the SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) handshake. The resulting buffer overflow causes the server to crash, resulting in a denial of service. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to organizations and individuals using the affected version of AppleShare Mail Server and should be addressed promptly.
