Summary
CVE-1999-0874 is a buffer overflow vulnerability affecting Internet Information Services (IIS) version 4.0. Maliciously crafted requests for files with .HTR, .IDC, or .STM extensions can trigger the buffer overflow, leading to a denial of service (DoS) condition. An attacker can exploit this flaw to cause IIS to stop responding, rendering the affected system inaccessible. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to systems that have not been patched, as it was identified and documented over two decades ago.
